FBC: Firebreak uses a peer-to-peer (P2P) connection model, meaning the quality of your connection depends on both your own network and the host player’s location. Proper setup ensures smooth gameplay, reduced lag, and stable matchmaking.

  1. Open Network Settings
Press the Xbox button → Profile & system → Settings → General → Network settings.

  2. Test Network Connection
Select Test network connection to confirm that your console is online and Xbox services are available.

  3. Check NAT Type and Multiplayer Settings
Under Current Network Status, verify that your NAT Type is Open. A Moderate or Strict NAT may prevent you from joining other players’ lobbies or hosting stable sessions.

  4. Restart Console and Router
Power cycle both your console and router. This clears cached IP and routing data.

  5. Use a Wired (Ethernet) Connection if Possible
If you’re experiencing lag or disconnects, use a wired Ethernet connection for improved latency and stability.

  6. Host Awareness (P2P-Specific)
Because FBC: Firebreak uses peer-to-peer connections, the host’s upload speed and physical location determine how smooth the session is.

  • For the best experience, have the player with the most stable and fastest connection host the game.

  • If you notice consistent lag, try switching the session host.

  • Avoid large data downloads or streaming apps while playing.

  1. Advanced Settings (Optional)
In Network settings → Advanced settings, set DNS to Manual, using 8.8.8.8 (Primary) and 8.8.4.4 (Secondary) for improved stability.

Troubleshooting Note

If your NAT remains Strict after restarts:
• Enable UPnP on your router.
• Restart both console and modem after applying the change.
• Avoid double NAT (e.g., using two routers).

If latency persists, try joining a host located closer to your region, since Firebreak is peer-hosted, distance and upload speed directly impact game performance.

Account or billing-related issues are handled directly by Microsoft or the retailer of purchase.
