Because CONTROL Ultimate Edition streams directly from remote servers, it does not require a full game installation on your console. However, managing available storage space helps ensure smooth launcher updates and optimal performance.
Steps to Check Available Storage
Go to System Settings.
From the HOME Menu, select the gear icon → Data Management.Select Manage Software.
View how much space each installed title or launcher occupies.Check Remaining Space.
Look at System Memory and microSD Card capacity. For the cloud launcher, ensure at least 500 MB of free space.
How to Free Up Space
Archive Unused Software.
Select a game or application → press + / – → choose Manage Software → Archive Software.Delete Unused Screenshots or Videos.
Go to Data Management → Manage Screenshots and Videos.
Delete captures you no longer need or transfer them to a microSD card.Move Data to microSD Card (If Inserted).
If your Switch has a microSD card, data will automatically install there if space is available.
Cloud Version Storage Notes
CONTROL Ultimate Edition (Cloud Version) uses storage only for the launcher and save configuration data.
No large game files are stored locally, gameplay runs entirely from the cloud.
Ensure there’s at least 500 MB of free space to prevent download or cache errors.
Troubleshooting Notes
If the launcher fails to download or update:
- Delete and redownload it from the eShop (no progress loss).
- Restart your console before retrying.
- If space errors persist, check for background downloads or pending system updates.
If you’ve cleared space but the launcher still fails to update or install, contact Nintendo Support for assistance.
