CONTROL Ultimate Edition on GOG is DRM-free and can be installed using either the GOG Galaxy client or manual offline installers downloaded directly from GOG.com. You do not need an internet connection to play after installation, but updates and cloud saves require GOG Galaxy.

Install via GOG Galaxy

  1. Download and Install GOG Galaxy

    • Visit the GOG Galaxy Download Page and follow the on-screen instructions.

    • Launch the GOG Galaxy client and sign in with your GOG account.

  2. Locate CONTROL Ultimate Edition

    • Click the Library tab in GOG Galaxy.

    • Find CONTROL Ultimate Edition in your game list.

    • If it’s not visible, click Owned Games → Refresh Library.

  3. Install the Game

    • Click Install.

    • Choose the installation location (default:C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Control Ultimate Edition).

    • Wait for the download and installation to complete.

  4. Launch the Game

    • Click the Play button in GOG Galaxy once installation finishes.

    • Look for the red Play button under the game’s title.

Install Using Offline Backup Installers

If you prefer not to use GOG Galaxy:

  1. Sign In to your GOG account at GOG.com.

  2. Navigate to your Library → CONTROL Ultimate Edition.

  3. Under Downloads, click Offline Backup Game Installers.

  4. Download all available.exe and.bin files (the number may vary based on game size).

  5. Run the first .exe file to begin installation.

  6. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete setup.

  7. Default installation path:C:\GOG Games\Control Ultimate Edition

Note: Keep all downloaded files in the same folder to avoid missing data errors.

Launching the Game

If Installed via GOG Galaxy:

  • Click Play in the GOG Galaxy client.

If Installed via Offline Installer:

  • Navigate to your installation directory.

  • Double-clickControl.exe to launch the game.

Optional: Enable Cloud Saves and Auto-Updates

If you prefer automatic syncing:

  1. Open GOG Galaxy → Settings → Features.

  2. Enable Cloud Saves and Auto-Update Games.

  3. Restart GOG Galaxy for settings to take effect.

Installation Requirements

  • Ensure at least 43 GB of free disk space before installation.

  • Avoid installing the game on external drives with low read/write speeds.

  • Run the installer or Galaxy client as Administrator to prevent permission errors.

Troubleshooting Notes

If installation fails or the game won’t launch:

  • Verify File Integrity: In GOG Galaxy → CONTROL Ultimate Edition → More → Manage Installation → Verify / Repair. (Note: This option only appears if you installed the game via GOG Galaxy.)

  • Reinstall the Game: Uninstall and reinstall using your preferred method.

  • Offline Installer Issues: Ensure all parts (.exe +.bin files) are in the same directory.

  3. Provide additional details. Player Support may ask you for additional files or info that may help with your issue, such as Error Code/Message, DxDiag, or MSInfo.
