You can move or change your CONTROL Ultimate Edition install location anytime using GOG Galaxy’s built-in tools, no need to uninstall or re-download.
Change Default Install Location
Launch GOG Galaxy.
Click the Settings (⚙️) icon → Installing, updating.
Under Game installation folder, click Browse and choose your new destination (for example,
D:\GOG Games).Click Apply to save your changes.
Move an Already Installed Game to Another Drive
If CONTROL Ultimate Edition is already installed and you want to move it:
Close GOG Galaxy.
Navigate to your current installation directory (for example,
C:\GOG Games\Control Ultimate Edition\).Copy the entire folder to the new destination drive (for example,
D:\GOG Games\Control Ultimate Edition\).In GOG Galaxy, click the Customization (⚙️) icon next to the Play button.
Select Manage Installation → Import Folder.
Choose your new location and confirm.
Galaxy will recognize the existing files and re-index them, no re-download required.
Move Game Files Manually
If you installed using GOG’s offline installers, you can manually move or back up the game folder.
Go to your installation path (default:
C:\GOG Games\Control Ultimate Edition\).Copy the entire game folder to your new destination drive.
Create a new desktop shortcut by right-clicking the game’s
.exefile → Send to → Desktop (create shortcut).Optional: delete the old folder once you confirm the game runs properly.
Verify Files After Moving
Once you move or reimport your game:
In GOG Galaxy, click Customization (⚙️) → Manage Installation → Verify / Repair.
Wait for the verification to complete (this ensures no corrupted or missing files).
Restore Save Files
If you moved between drives or systems, double-check that your saves were not affected.
Local saves (GOG build):
C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\My Games\Control\SavesGOG Galaxy Cloud Saves auto-sync when you log in again.
If GOG Galaxy does not detect your new game folder or shows a missing installation path, contact GOG Support for assistance.

- Describe your issue. Select Bug Reports, Game Froze/Crash, or the most relevant option, and answer the bot’s questions. Be sure to include your email address, platform (Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, etc.), User ID, screenshot/video, and a clear description of what went wrong.
- Provide additional details. Player Support may ask you for additional files or info that may help with your issue, such as Error Code/Message, DxDiag, or MSInfo.
