CONTROL Ultimate Edition on the Epic Games Store supports Epic Cloud Saves, which automatically sync your progress when connected online. You can also manually back up your local saves for extra safety or to move them between devices.
Automatic Cloud Save Backup
Epic Cloud Saves are enabled by default for most titles, including CONTROL Ultimate Edition. Your progress uploads automatically when you exit the game.
To confirm Cloud Saves are enabled:
Open the Epic Games Launcher.
Click your Profile icon → Settings.
Scroll to Preferences.
Ensure the option “Enable Cloud Saves” is checked.
Note: To verify that a game supports Cloud Saves, check for the cloud icon on the game’s store page.

Manual Backup
If you prefer to manually back up your CONTROL Ultimate Edition saves:
Close the game and the Epic Games Launcher.
Navigate to your local save directory (both are valid, depending on installation method):
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Remedy\Control\Default-Epic-User\or
%LOCALAPPDATA%\EpicGamesLauncher\Saved\Saves\<EpicAccountID>\Control\Copy the folder to a safe location such as an external drive, cloud storage, or USB device.
Note: Add a date to your backup folder name (e.g.,
Control_Epic_Backup_2025-11-10) to keep multiple versions organized.
Manual Restore
Close the Epic Games Launcher.
Navigate to your save directory using one of the above paths.
Replace the files in that folder with your backed-up version.
Relaunch the Epic Games Launcher.
If prompted about a conflict between local and cloud saves, select the newer save you want to keep.
Note: Temporarily disable Cloud Saves under Settings → Preferences → Disable Cloud Saves before restoring, then re-enable once verified to avoid overwriting your restored data.
If Cloud Saves Fail to Sync
If your progress isn’t syncing:
Ensure Cloud Saves are enabled.
Confirm you’re signed in to the correct Epic account.
Restart the Epic Games Launcher.
Check your connection or disable any VPNs.
You can also clear the Epic Launcher web cache if syncing continues to fail:
Close the launcher.
Go to:
%localappdata%\EpicGamesLauncher\Saved\webcacheDelete all files inside.
Relaunch the launcher.
