Steam stores your game files locally on your PC, and over time, updates, patches, or even an unstable internet connection can cause some files to become corrupted or incomplete.
The Verify Integrity of Game Files tool compares your installation against Steam’s official copy and automatically restores any missing or damaged data.
Use this guide if you experience crashes, missing textures, or other anomalies while playing CONTROL Ultimate Edition.
Steps to verify via Steam
Restart Steam to ensure no files are locked. Close the client completely, then launch it again.
In your Library, locate CONTROL Ultimate Edition, right‑click it (or click the gear icon on its Library page) and select Properties.
Select the Installed Files tab, then click Verify integrity of game files. Steam will check each file and replace anything corrupted The process may take several minutes.
When verification completes, start the game again.
Important Info
Verification only restores official game data it won’t delete your save files, but it will overwrite modded or custom files, so back those up or disable them before verifying.
Run verification for one game at a time to avoid saturating your disk and network.
If verification stalls or fails to download replacements, clear Steam’s Download Cache (Settings → Downloads → Clear Download Cache) and retry.
