The Xbox Series X and Series S do not provide a built‑in file‑verification tool. When CONTROL Ultimate Edition crashes, exhibits glitches, or doesn’t start correctly, the most effective fix is to uninstall and reinstall the game. This ensures any corrupted or incomplete data is replaced with a fresh download.
Steps to repair on Xbox Series X|S
Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide and navigate to My games & apps → See all → Games.
Highlight CONTROL Ultimate Edition, press the Menu button (☰), and choose Uninstall → Uninstall all to remove all game data.
Once the game is removed, restart your console by pressing and holding the Xbox button and selecting Restart console.
After the restart, reinstall the game: return to My games & apps, go to Full library → Owned games, select CONTROL Ultimate Edition and choose Install all.
Important Notes
Uninstalling does not erase your saved progress. Saved games are stored in the cloud and will sync when you reinstall, provided you’re signed in to Xbox Live.
Before reinstalling, verify that you have sufficient storage space. Moving large games or apps to external storage can free up space on the internal SSD.
If problems continue after reinstalling, perform a full power cycle: hold the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds to shut it down completely, unplug the power for one minute, then turn the console back on and reinstall the game.
