How to Manage Network Settings and Fix Download Issues on PlayStation 5

Adjusting your network settings can help resolve connectivity or download interruptions in FBC: Firebreak

1. Test Your Internet Connection

From the PS5 home screen, go to Settings → Network → Connection Status → Test Internet Connection.
This helps identify whether your console is online or if the issue comes from your internet provider.

2. Restart or Reconnect to Your Network

If your test fails or shows unstable results, restart your router and reconnect your console to the network.
Refreshing your connection clears temporary network errors that may interrupt downloads.

3. Use a Wired (LAN) Connection

If possible, connect your PS5 directly to the router using a LAN cable.
A wired connection provides more stability during large downloads or system updates.

4. Configure DNS Settings (Advanced)

Go to Settings → Network → Settings → Set Up Internet Connection → Advanced Settings.
Switch DNS to Manual, then set Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8 and Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4 (Google DNS).
This can improve download speeds and reduce timeouts caused by slow DNS lookups.

5. Rebuild Database (if downloads freeze)

If downloads keep pausing or failing, restart your console in Safe Mode and select Rebuild Database.
This reorganizes your system files and can fix hidden corruption that disrupts downloads.

6. Contact PlayStation Support if Issues Persist

If your network test consistently fails or downloads don’t start, contact PlayStation Support for regional troubleshooting assistance.
You can also check PSN Service Status to confirm there are no server-side outages.

Note: Your PS5 must be connected to a stable network to download updates or reinstall FBC: Firebreak
