Experiencing crashes, graphical glitches, or unusual performance issues in CONTROL Ultimate Edition?
Our support team may ask you to provide a DxDiag report to help identify what’s happening behind the scenes.
This diagnostic report gives us a snapshot of your system’s hardware, DirectX configuration, and driver versions, all critical for pinpointing compatibility issues, missing updates, or performance bottlenecks that may affect your experience inside the Oldest House.
What Is a DxDiag Report?
The DirectX Diagnostic Tool (DxDiag) gathers system-level information, including:
CPU and GPU specifications
Graphics and audio driver versions
Windows version and build
DirectX runtime details
Memory, display, and monitor configurations
This data helps our engineers identify outdated drivers, hardware mismatches, or other technical conditions that could be causing instability or crashes.
How to Create Your DxDiag File
Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
Type dxdiag and press Enter.
The DirectX Diagnostic Tool window will open.
Wait for the progress bar to complete the system scan.
Click “Save All Information” in the bottom-right corner.
Save the file as dxdiag.txt to a location you can easily find (for example, your Desktop).
📂 File format:.txt
🔁 Recommended filename:dxdiag_[yourname].txt
Is My DxDiag File Secure?
Yes. The DxDiag report contains only technical system data, it does not include personal documents, passwords, or browsing history.
It is used solely for troubleshooting and handled in accordance with Remedy’s and GDPR-compliant privacy standards.
How to Submit Your DxDiag File
When contacting Remedy Support, attach the following:
Your dxdiag.txt file
Your MSINFO.nfo file (see: How to Create Your MSINFO File)
A short description of what happened (symptoms, when it occurs, etc.)
Crash logs, screenshots, or short video clips (if available)
If you’ve already opened a ticket, you can simply reply to the support email and attach your dxdiag.txt file.
Speed Up Resolution Time
For the fastest diagnosis:
Keep your GPU drivers up to date, most visual or stability issues are resolved through driver updates.
Include both your MSINFO and DxDiag files together.
Provide as much context as possible (e.g., map location, weapon used, or when the crash occurs).
