If you’re experiencing crashes, stuttering, frame drops, or graphical glitches while playing CONTROL Ultimate Edition, performing a clean installation of your NVIDIA graphics drivers can help.
Residual or corrupted driver files are a common cause of performance issues and instability. This guide will walk you through how to completely remove old NVIDIA components, install the latest drivers, and restore your GPU settings to default for the best performance.
A. Driver Cleanup & Fresh Install
Note: Booting into Safe Mode disables third-party interference, ensuring the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) can fully remove all NVIDIA components.
Reboot into Safe Mode
Press Windows Key + R, type
msconfig, and hit Enter.Under Boot → Safe boot, select Minimal and click OK, then Restart.
Run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)
Download the latest DDU from Guru3D or the official DDU site.
Launch DDU, select GPU → NVIDIA, and click Clean and restart.
This ensures all NVIDIA drivers, registry entries, and files are removed.
Download the Latest NVIDIA Driver
After rebooting back to Windows normally, visit the NVIDIA Drivers page.
Select your GPU model (example, GeForce RTX 30 Series) and OS, then click Search → Download.
Perform a Clean Install
Run the downloaded installer.
Choose Custom (Advanced) installation.
Check Perform a clean installation.
Follow the on‑screen prompts to complete the process.
Reboot your PC to finalize the driver installation.
Note: Clean installs reset NVIDIA settings to defaults if you rely on specific profiles, note them down beforehand.
B. Factory Reset in NVIDIA Control Panel

Go to Manage 3D Settings on the left pane.
Click Restore Defaults → Apply.
Close the panel and relaunch CONTROL Ultimate Edition to test your performance.
