Experiencing connectivity issues in FBC: Firebreak? Whether you're on PC, Xbox, or PlayStation, this guide provides comprehensive steps to diagnose and resolve common network problems, ensuring a seamless gaming experience.

 Network

1. Verify Internet Connection

  • Check Device Connectivity: Ensure your device is connected to the internet. Test by browsing a website or streaming a video.

  • Test Other Devices: Determine if the issue is isolated by checking internet access on other devices within the same network.

  • Use Wired Connection: For optimal stability, connect your device directly to the router using an Ethernet cable.

2. Restart Network Equipment

  • Power Cycle Router/Modem: Unplug your router and modem from the power source. Wait 30 seconds, then plug them back in. Allow a few minutes for them to fully reboot.

  • Restart Your Device: After the network equipment has restarted, reboot your gaming device to refresh its network settings.

3. Inspect Physical Connections

  • Check Cables: Ensure all Ethernet cables are securely connected and free from damage.

  • Avoid Interference: Keep cables away from potential sources of interference, such as power cords or fluorescent lights.

4. Configure Firewall and Antivirus Settings

  • Temporarily Disable Security Software: Turn off your firewall and antivirus programs to see if they're blocking the game's connection.

  • Add Exceptions: If disabling resolves the issue, add FBC: Firebreak and its launcher(Steam or Epic) to the exception list of your security software.

5. Optimize Wireless Connections

  • Reduce Distance: Place your device closer to the router to strengthen the Wi-Fi signal.

  • Minimize Obstacles: Remove physical obstructions between your device and the router.

  • Limit Interference: Turn off other devices that may interfere with the Wi-Fi signal, such as microwaves or cordless phones.

6. Adjust DNS Settings

  • Switch to Public DNS: Change your DNS settings to use a reliable public DNS service:

    • Google DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

    • Cloudflare DNS: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1

Configure on Device or Router: Update DNS settings either directly on your gaming device or within your router's configuration page.

7. Test Network Connection

  • PC: Use the built-in network troubleshooter:

    • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.

    • Click Network troubleshooter and follow the prompts.

  • Xbox: Navigate to Settings > General > Network settings > Test network connection.

  • PlayStation: Go to Settings > Network > Test Internet Connection.
